1. Purpose

I-On Academy is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all learners, including those with disabilities or learning difficulties. This policy outlines our approach to making reasonable adjustments for learners attending Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence-linked training courses.

2. Scope

This policy applies to: – All learners undertaking SIA-approved training at I-On Academy. – Staff responsible for course delivery, assessment, and learner support.

3. Definition

A reasonable adjustment is any change to the course environment, delivery, or assessment methods that enables a learner with a disability or learning need to participate fully without compromising the integrity or standards of the qualification.

4. Types of Reasonable Adjustments

Examples include but are not limited to: – Extra time in assessments – Use of assistive technology – Reading support – Adjusted physical access or seating – Modified learning materials (e.g. large print)

5. Process for Requesting Adjustments
  1. Learners must notify I-On Academy of any adjustment needs at the time of booking or as early as possible.
  2. A Reasonable Adjustment Request Form must be completed, supported by relevant evidence (e.g. medical or educational psychologist report).
  3. The request will be reviewed by our Training Manager in consultation with the Awarding Organisation (e.g. Highfield, NOCN, etc.).
6. Approval and Implementation
  • Adjustments will be implemented where they are reasonable, practical, and permitted under SIA and Awarding Body regulations.
  • All adjustments must maintain assessment validity and public confidence in the qualification.
7. Monitoring and Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or following any changes to SIA or Awarding Organisation requirements.
